PMG Schoolwear re-opening

Dear School Principal, Head Teacher, Bursar, Business Manager, School Administrator and the myriad of other titles who we deal with on a day to day basis in our schools.


I felt it was important, as the Managing Director of PMG Schoolwear, to write to you personally regarding our arrangements to ensure your parents are able to get hold of their children’s School Uniform this Summer.


My teams and I have been working tirelessly to ensure that our stocks of every single school’s uniform are ready and available. I am delighted to be able to say we are ready to serve every single school as we always do.


Our online business has continued to be available throughout the lockdown period and we feel sure that many parents will chose to shop this way during the Summer months until confidence returns on the high street. There is no question that we would encourage parents to buy online this year more than any other.


I am delighted to announce that our stores will re-open on 29th June. As I am sure you are all only too aware, government guidelines will make things more challenging this year. We have of course prepared the stores for social distancing and providing a safe environment. We will be operating an appointment only system for all visits to the store whether it be to buy new starters uniform, top up for children already at the school or for refunds and exchanges. Every visitor to the store must book appointment which they can do on the home page of our website  This is the only way we can safely manage the number of people in the store at any one time even if the social distances get reduced.


I have attached a flyer which explains how we will be operating and I would ask you to distribute this through all means at your disposal to get this message out to ALL of your parents – New Starters and Current Pupils – since everyone will be affected. Putting it on your website is a great help but as you know, this will only be seen by people who specifically go to the website. Therefore I would ask you to be more proactive and distribute it to every parent using your parentmail system or equivalent. This will ensure no parent turns up at the store and is disappointed that they cant just walk in like normal. If you have social media streams such as Facebook or Instagram please post it on there too as we know so many parents actually prefer this as a way of communicating.


If you are able to stress to parents to book early or purchase online early this would also be helpful. There will be limited appointment slots and we don’t want parents to end up with inconvenient times and dates or worse still to miss out altogether.


I know that usually PMG Schoolwear helps to promote our Summer availability by attending fitting days and intake events. None of these have been possible this year and we do not have direct communication with parents - but you do. So I would urge you to please communicate this document and any extra guidance to your parents. It is in everyone’s interest this year that parents are more informed about how to buy uniform than ever before. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated but will also ensure we do not have angry and disappointed parents turning up as they usually do in the last weeks of the holiday to buy uniform.
