Lesley Hill

I have lived in Leiston since 1978. I'm married with three children who attended Leiston schools and three of my grandchildren attended Alde Valley Academy. I spent twenty-one years working as a teaching assistant at Leiston Primary School and have been involved in voluntary work for over thirty-five years.

I have been on parent teacher associations, served as a school governor for twenty-six years including ten years as Chairman at Alde Valley prior to it becoming an Academy. I was elected to Leiston-cum-Sizewell Town Council in 2015 and re-elected in May 2019. I served as Chairman of the Council from 2016 – 2020 and I’m currently Vice-Chairman.  I am also a Trustee of the Leiston Community Land Trust. In 2019 I was invited back as a member of the AVA Committee and in 2022 took up the role of Chairman.

I believe a good education and the health and wellbeing of young people is very important in helping students to reach their full potential and in showing them how to become responsible citizens of the future.

Niki Rousseau

Niki is responsible for Community Relations at Sizewell B and manages the Sizewell Visitor Centre, maintaining relationships with the community and working closely with local schools to mentor, inspire and encourage young people, to consider a career within STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths). Niki maintains relationships with the community and is recognised as their main point of contact for Sizewell B. She attended Leiston High School (now Alde Valley Academy) and then Lowestoft College before joining the nuclear industry. Niki commented, “The opportunities have been abundant and it has been amazing to be part of a company that grows and nurtures talent. Through our mentoring programme I have been able to go ‘back to school’ to encourage young people to think about a career in science, to share my experiences and how my learning journey started exactly where they are now.”
