Employer Partnerships

Alde Valley Academy has developed a range of partnerships with local and national organisations and employers, offering students aspirational activities which include trips and visits, as well as careers advice and guidance.

These partners include:

EDF Energy who are working with students across all year groups, and in particular supporting the GCSE Engineering courses.

The Hotel Folk who have sponsored equipment and chef whites for students in Food Tech. They will be working with students in Years 10 and 11 to enrich the curriculum, offering work experience placements, demonstrations, advice, training and guidance.

We look forward to working with construction and infrastructure company Morgan Sindall who are sponsoring our Design, Engineer and Construct training programme. The course, which will be delivered in conjunction with Class of Your Own, will allow students access to industry level software and professionally run workshops.

Employer engagement is seen as vital to the development of our students and their ability to continue into meaningful employment in the future. We actively encourage work-based learning throughout our students’ school life; most notably our Year 10 work placement scheme. All students have the opportunity to apply for a placement with local businesses giving them a chance to experience the world of work and to develop employability skills such as team work, communication and time-keeping.

We have developed close links with Suffolk New College on the Coast, which is now based on the site of Alde Valley Academy and offer vocational courses for post-16 students across the local and wider community. This provides the students of Alde Valley Academy the unique opportunity to access specialised courses

We provide careers advice and guidance across all year groups, working closely with all sixth form providers and local colleges. We host an extensive careers evening in November involving key local employers, colleges, sixth forms and the Uniformed Services.

Students also attend inspirational post 16 provision assemblies.

If you are an employer and would like to get involved with the Careers provision at Alde Valley, please refer to our Access policy on the school website and contact Mr Jamie Smith j.smith@aldevalley.suffolk.sch.uk
